The legendary design by Tinker Hatfield was like none other, drawing inspiration from sports cars with a spoiler-like heel pull and other unique design elements such as a neoprene bootie and holes in the tongue for quick on-and-off.
Two and a half decades later, the Air Jordan VI still represents greatness in a new black leather construction, complete with a new perforated finish, reflective laces, and subtle accents in white. Since his game-winning shot that brought championship glory to North Carolina, Michael Jordan has been at the forefront of basketball consciousness.
He took the court in 1985 wearing the original Air Jordan I, simultaneously breaking league rules and his opponents' will while capturing the imagination of fans worldwide.
Retro VI
What makes Air Jordan VI so special, so eternal, so interesting? Perhaps the fact that these are the shoes Jordan wore when he first won the NBA Ring? Maybe because he won his first MVP of the Finals award wearing them? Maybe materials, design? Whatever it is, it's a shoe that is worth remembering!
Similarly as the previous model, the Jordan VIs have a clean rubber sole. This time, Tinker improved and upgraded the slightly slipping outsole of the Jordan Vs.
Tinker got the inspiration for the hind part of footwear from Jordan's Porsche. The Jordan Vis also star in the cult movie 'White Men Can't Jump' starring Woody Harrison and Wesley Snips in the lead roles.
Mike explicitly demanded a better heel support on Jordan VI as he did not want to allow any problems with the Achilles tendon. An important addition to this model were also the two holes in the tongue that made it easier for Michael to put on his shoes, with which he struggled while putting on the first five models.
